You can See It, Snap It, Share It anywhere, but send your shares from these places and earn a bonus point. There are currently 18 HotSpots throughout Buncombe County; including at all twelve branches of the Buncombe County Public Library System. There are an additional six hotspots as part of The North Carolina Arboretum MegaSpot (more info below).

Pop-Up HotSpots are also places where ecoEXPLORERS can earn a bonus point. These places are HotSpots for a limited time only and usually occur during an event. Check out our When to EXPLORE link for upcoming Pop-Up HotSpots.

Current GetSpots: North Asheville Wild Birds Unlimited, Pack Memorial Public Library, Connections Gallery Shop at The North Carolina Arboretum and Madison County Public Library.




These libraries allow patrons with library cards to borrow items including binoculars, insect nets, iPod Touch units, and trail cameras. LoanSpots include Pack Memorial Public Library and North Asheville Public Library in Asheville and Madison County Public Library in Marshall.



A MegaSpot includes multiple HotSpots and a GetSpot and/or LoanSpot. A MegSpot Map will aid you in exploring this area depending upon the type of wildlife you want to observe. A list of MegaSpots are shown below:
